Endless Mode is Shift At Midnight's post-story gauntlet: infinite nights until your run ends, with escalating pressure and exclusive enemies. It is actively updated (with major upgrades in the September 1, 2026 patch) ahead of the expanded Q4 2026 overhaul.

How to Unlock Endless Mode

Complete the True Ending. Finish the 13-shift story with $250 saved and without letting Clyde or your Pet die. The story save then resets ("your clerk has no reason to keep living"), and Endless becomes available.

Players chasing Endless should read the True Ending routes — Route B (let everyone buy, arm up) is the reliable path to the required funds.

Key Endless Features (September 2026 Update)

1. In-Store Security Cameras

You can now access live camera feeds directly from the computer terminal inside the store. This allows you to inspect exterior doors, the side alley, and approaching figures without risking direct exposure. Use it between customers to spot Rakes stalking perimeter fences.

2. Companion Pet In Endless

Previously exclusive to story progression, the Pet companion can now be purchased directly from the in-store shop during Endless runs. Having the pet alerts you to nearby supernatural intruders and calms sanity loss during blackouts.

3. Buffed Starter Room & Trap Limits

To combat early wave spikes, players now start each Endless run with 2 Bear Traps and 2 Wooden Planks stocked in the storage room. Furthermore, the Bear Trap purchase limit in the shop was raised from 2 to 3, allowing full lockdown of all 3 entryways (Front, Bathroom, Back Door).

4. Re-enabled Customer Patience

Customers in Endless will no longer wait indefinitely while you barricade or wander the store. The patience countdown is active — letting customers wait too long angers Doppelgangers and forces rushed verification.

The Rakes

The Endless-exclusive enemy: red-glowing forest creatures. Key behavior reported by players:

  • When hit, a Rake retreats and repositions rather than dying cleanly — it swaps positions and strikes again from a flank.
  • Don't chase one into the dark; control space with traps, security cameras, and fire instead of committing to a footrace.

Endless Survival Principles

  1. Economy still matters — chores and boss tasks keep funding weapons and traps as difficulty scales.
  2. Trap lines beat reflexes. Bear traps and landmines scale better than aiming as spawn rates climb. Pre-trap all 3 doors with your buffed 3-trap capacity.
  3. Barricade discipline: the three exterior entrances (front, bathroom, back) remain the chokepoints.
  4. Monitor your feeds: Check the PC security cameras between customer rings to catch lurking threats before they breach.
  5. Tools over heroics: the Anomaly Lens and Emotiscope stay essential as the Doppelganger ratio rises — identification speed is survival.

The Q4 2026 Update Roadmap

Per the Steam store page, a free major Endless update is planned for Q4 2026 with exclusive customers, new heavy weapons, advanced traps, and new monster classes.

FAQ

Can I play Endless without the True Ending? No — achieving the True Ending is the required unlock condition.

Can I buy the Chainsaw in Endless? Yes, the Chainsaw added in the September 1 update can be purchased from the weapons catalog and deals massive sustained close-quarters damage against Rakes and brutes.

Is there a "Night 14"? Effectively yes — Endless continues the count past the story's 13 nights indefinitely.

Endless details reflect the September 1, 2026 update build and will be updated when the Q4 2026 expansion launches.
