Shift At Midnight Achievements — All 10 & How to Get Them
Shift At Midnight ships with 10 achievements on Steam. Some are pure story flags you'll unlock by playing normally; others — Relentless in particular — are skill checks that take most players a dozen runs to land. This page lists every achievement, what triggers it, and the fastest reliable way to get the tough ones.
Achievement data is cross-checked against the community wiki and current as of the July 22, 2026 Steam release. Difficulty ratings are community-reported; treat them as guidance, not law.

The early-game achievements (Nights 1–3)
First Blood is the tutorial milestone — you'll get it the moment you correctly identify and eliminate a Doppelganger. New players report getting it by Night 2. The counter tracks kills, not attempts, so mis-identifying a customer doesn't set you back.
Still Breathing triggers the first time the Entity spawns and you survive the Hunt. The Hunt is the loud phase where the lights cut out and you scramble for vents or tools. As long as you don't die, you'll earn this — but watch the Jumpscare cooldown: dying to a jumpscare in the same Hunt doesn't count as survival in some patch versions. Patch 1.0.4 fixed this, so if you're playing current you should be fine.
Locked And Loaded is the loot grind. It's not hard, just long: you need to purchase every melee weapon in the shop and fill out the Weapons Arsenal wall in the back room. With a typical run earning $200–400, expect three to four sessions of unlocking upgrades. Pick up every dropped weapon along the way — they sell for less than they cost to buy.
The mid-game achievements (Nights 4–8)
Silenced drops the first time you put down a Shrieking Doll. Shrieking Dolls are small, fast, and tend to spawn in groups of two or three. A single shotgun blast clears a cluster; if you don't have the Shotgun yet, melee with the Baseball Bat works but you need to time the swing — Dolls dodge.
Freed requires killing a Demented. Dementeds are the "weeping angel" monsters that freeze when observed, so the achievement is most safely earned by baiting one onto a bear trap or landmine — no staring required, and you don't risk getting snapped if you blink. Most players earn Freed around Night 7.
Last Performance is the Marionette kill. The music box spawns from Night 9 onward; wind it before the tune finishes (10–15 seconds) and the Marionette dismisses cleanly without combat. But for the achievement you actually have to kill it, which means committing with the Shotgun or Flamethrower. Flamethrower kiting is the safe route — chip shots with the Shotgun make it faster and more dangerous, so don't do that unless you're finishing it.
The story achievements
The four story-flag achievements are mutually exclusive in some paths:
- Grave Decision — Clyde dies, Pet lives.
- True Ending — Both live.
- Empty Home — Pet dies, Clyde lives.
You'll get at most two of these per save file (depending on the binary choice around Night 12). To collect all three, start a second save after getting the first pair. The True Ending path is harder because it requires keeping Clyde alive through the finale while the Pet scripted event triggers — see our All Endings page for the precise steps.
The skill-check achievement
Relentless — finish a Hunt within 30 seconds — is the one achievement that makes the community lose its mind. Two reliable strategies:
- Pre-staged Bear Traps + Landmines. Place three traps in the spawn corridor before the Hunt starts. The Entity will step on all three and die in ~10 seconds. You need the Trap Kit and Mines unlocked (Shop upgrade tier 2), so this only becomes available around Night 6 or later.
- Flamethrower corner-cheese. Kite the Entity into a corner near the vent entrance and burn it down. Takes 25–35 seconds with a fully upgraded Flamethrower. Riskier, but works earlier.
You can re-trigger Hunts by skipping nights in Endless Mode — see the Endless Mode guide.
How rare are these?
Community-reported unlock rates from Steam (as of late July 2026, ~3,000 reviews):
- First Blood / Still Breathing / Silenced / Locked And Loaded: 70–85% of players
- Freed / Last Performance / Grave Decision / Empty Home / True Ending: 35–55%
- Relentless: ~12% (the Steam global achievement rarity graph confirms it's the rarest by a wide margin)
Rarity drops naturally as more casual players bounce off the game. The community wiki tracks the moving average if you want a real-time number.
Achievement hunting order
If you're starting a fresh save and want to 100% as fast as possible:
- Play through Nights 1–3, get First Blood, Still Breathing, and Silenced naturally.
- Unlock Shotgun + Trap Kit around Night 4–5 (buy from Shop).
- Build the Relentless setup on Night 5+ for the bear-trap strat.
- Save the Marionette kill for the first encounter on Night 9 (use Flamethrower).
- Make your Clyde/Pet choice on Night 12 — whichever you pick, start a second save afterward to grab the other branches.
Total time to 10/10: roughly 6–10 hours for a new player, less for experienced ones.
Common achievement problems
"I killed a Doppelganger and First Blood didn't trigger." This is a known issue in Patch 1.0.2 — fixed in 1.0.3. Update your game. If you're on console, force-restart the title.
"Relentless isn't counting time correctly." The 30-second window starts when the Hunt music begins, not when you first take damage. If you're trying to cheese it, watch the timer in the corner of the HUD, not your own count.
"Grave Decision / Empty Home / True Ending are greyed out." You need to finish the current save file's story arc to a stable ending before the achievement registers. Dying mid-finale and reloading the night doesn't count — you have to survive to credits.
